WATER
   
  Half fill a transparent container and place
it on the table.
Mark the level of the water with a felt
tipped pen.
Now tilt the container and mark the level
of the water.
What happens to the water level?
   
  Make four holes in a line on the side of a plastic bottle beginning at the top and
ending about half way down.
Cover the holes with tape.
Fill the bottle with water.
Stand it in a bowl and remove the tape.
Look at the way in which the water flows
out of the bottle.
Can you explain this?
   
  Fill a jar with water and stand it near and above a sink. Place another jar in the sink.
Suck water from the full jar using a tube until the tube is full.
Put your finger over the mouth end of the tube and put it into the empty jar.
What happens?
This is a siphon.
Lift the bottom jar up above the top one while the tube is still full of water.
What happens?
